Welcome to 2 Year Provision
Thank you for all of your support with our Early Years Outdoor Fundraising. So far we have raised over £100 from our coin trail and Beauty Hamper Raffle. The winner of our Beauty Hamper was Ava C from Nursery! Well done!
We are holding our sponsored sports event on Tuesday 11th July - Don't forget to return your sponsor forms and any sponsor money to school by Monday 17th July. Many Thanks! If you need a new sponsor form please ask one of the staff.
We will be holding our raffle during Harvest Festival in the Autumn Term instead of during transition week. If you have sent in raffle ticket money we will keep your tickets safe for you until then!
Our topic in Summer 2 is "At the beach"
We are going to be bringing the beach to us and exploring the different things we might find there, in and out of the water. This will help develop our language skills, talking about past experiences and thoughts about the beach. We will be taking part in activities based around the beach such as counting shells, exploring messy play, building sandcastles to name a few things. We are also looking forward to playing in our brand new 'Fish and Chip shop' role play, developing our imagination through our play..
We can't wait to get started!
Even though it was raining on sports day, it didn't dampen our spirits and we had a fabulous time taking part in lots of different activities, such as the egg and spoon race and the target throw! We all did really well and tried so hard completing each activity and got a sticker at the end for our efforts! We enjoyed a fruity ice lolly, we had made previously to finish the session off. Here are some photo's of our sports day...
After some beautiful weather over half term we returned to Nursery to wet and windy weather! we decided to make the most of this weather and go... Puddle Jumping! The children and staff were all very excited and once we were all appropriately dressed we headed out in the pouring rain! We found lots of puddles on our walk but unfortunately no deep ones, which are the best type of puddles! So we headed back to our garden and made our own!
We had lots of fun turning on the tap and filling up the tuff spots, we added food colouring to our 'puddles' too! Here are some photos from our busy morning!
Catchgate's Catch of the Day
We have changed our role play room and turned it into a fish and chip shop! The children have enjoyed exploring it this week and developing their imagination from being the shop customers, chef and cashier. We are always enhancing our setting and appreciate any donations received, especially for our role play! Thank you!
Take a look at our outdoor provision -
We spend a lot of our time exploring outdoors and the children enjoy free flow time throughout the session. Here are a few pictures of our children enjoying a variety of activities in all weathers!
We have recently updated our sensory kitchen and the children have been really enjoying accessing it and exploring the resources independently too. The children have been developing their imagination by making 'food and drinks' for each other and staff, in the kitchen. Blake made me a lovely mud cake too!
We welcome any donations to help us enhance our sensory kitchen from plants no longer wanted to kitchen utensils you may not be using anymore, we really appreciate all donations!
Transition week Monday 3rd July - Thursday 6th July
Friday 7th July - 2 year setting back in
Beach Day Wednesday 19th July
Last day of term Friday 21st July
Summer term 2 workshops continue with our Fathers Day Workshop! We linked this with our topic story 'Shark in the Park'. We made our own telescopes and stayed to play afterwards! Before it was time to go home, we listened to the story and used the telescopes we made as props throughout. We had lots of fun! Take a look at a few pictures of the workshop...
Outdoor stay and play
At our Outdoor workshop, our parents and guardians came to play with us! We went outdoors and explored the timber trail together, then we headed back to our garden to explore all the resources and activities in there. We had lots of fun showing them what we like playing with the best and showing them our independence when choosing activities and putting on waterproofs and wellies.
Thank you to the parents who attend our workshops. The next workshop to follow is Sports Day Workshop. The morning session is at 10:45 and the afternoon session is at 2:15!
2 Year Provision take part in forest school sessions each week. Children will take part in these sessions on a Wednesday am and pm session.
PE and Physical Development
We have lots of opportunities for developing physical skills both in and outdoors.
PE sessions will take place each week. These sessions will take place either in the main school hall or in our 2 Year Provision space. Every Friday, children will take part in a Little Dribblers football session taken by a coach.
Session times are 8.45-11.45 and 12.15-3.15.
If someone different is collecting your child please inform school as soon as possible.
We send weekly diaries home on Friday. These tell you what your child has been up to and what they have been learning. Please return these by Wednesday.
Notes from home are sent home regularly and are available anytime from staff.
You will have the opportunity to look at and contribute to your child's Learning Journey throughout the year and can ask to see this at anytime.
Each day your child will need to bring a named coat, bag and spare clothes. As the weather is getting warmer, we would really appreciate it if you could put sun cream on your child before the session starts
We go outside whatever the weather so children need to be changed frequently. Please ensure you send a named bag with plenty of spare clothes in, especially if your child is potty training.
If your child wears nappies or pull ups please send these and wipes in a named bag each day.
How you can help at home
There are lots of things that you can do at home to support your child at home.
Singing is such an important part of Early Years education, it supports speech, language, mathematical awareness and early reading. Below is a booklet of some of the rhymes we sing in school.
We do encourage all children to use words instead of actions to make their wants and needs known. It is helpful if you continue this at home by encouraging talk and extending vocabulary for example if your child says "car" you could extend this by saying "yes, it's a big, red car".
When out shopping you could encourage your child to create their own shopping list. This list might be a lot of marks on paper but to your child it will be exactly what they say it is. Encourage your child to remember what they wanted to put on there " have we got everything on your list?"
If you would like to find out more about how you can help at home please speak to your child's key person.
Thank you for your support
