The Catchgate Curriculum

Welcome to the Catchgate Curriculum! 

Redesigned for 2021, we have spent careful time planning to ensure that this ambitious curriculum meets not only the basic requirements of the curriculum but considers the needs of our pupils in our school, our local area and beyond. This ensures that our British Values are considered when teaching each lesson. 

A number of subject areas are used as 'drivers' in each curriculum with other subject areas either supporting the theme for the half term or taught as standalone subjects. 

Each topic is listed below - please have a look to see what each year group is doing within the topics and how they all link. If you look closely, you should also see the progression of skills across the year groups too! 

All of our topics work towards a whole school end point - a task that we all contribute to. Work completed throughout the term is designed to enable our children to fulfil their task. 

At Catchgate Primary School, all aspects of our curriculum are accessible to all children, irrespective of their ethnic background, gender, disability, religious or linguistic background. We strive hard to meet the needs of those pupils with special educational needs, those with disabilities, those who are more able, those with special gifts and talents and the children who are learning English as an additional language. We provide a rich, challenging curriculum, which stretches all of our children. Staff are aware of children who have exceptional talents and gifts and monitor or track their progress carefully to ensure their academic potential or talent is continually developed.

Each subject in the national curriculum is listed below. Within this section you can find the rationale behind each subject, the school policy on it and any further advice shared by subject leaders.
