As a school, we feel it is very important to have links with the local residents and community to promote wellbeing and mental health. We need a sense of belonging, and that sense of belonging is what connects us to the many relationships we develop, being in school, at home or within the community. Research shows that our social connections can have a huge impact on our mental well-being and our ability to survive major challenges. We have been working with the local community to promote wellbeing and showcase what our school provides for everyone around us.
We thought it would be a good idea to go on a walk around Catchgate and put up Wellbeing and Mental Health displays to show people what services we have to offer here in school. We contacted the local library, pharmacy and doctors surgery, who were more than happy for us to go along and put up some of our work. Some members of the Wellbeing Warriors went along to these places, spoke with staff and local people from the area and showed them our work after we had put up our displays.
