Read the words above. Which 3 senses do the words relate to?

Descriptive words are adjectives and like the ones you used Monday they can give the reader an intentional perception of something. This is called creating an atmosphere.

Can you sort the words in each sense into positive and negative adjectives? (You could colour code these if you go to this page in your own classwork folder)

Choose any setting and write sentences using the words you've been given to add detail. I want you to write pairs of sentences about the same setting but changing the atmosphere by picking a different adjective. (You can change more of the sentence as well to help but keep the setting the same in each pair)

E.g

A harmonious sound wafted through the open door inviting him in.

A harsh, screeching sound came from the open door warning him not to enter.

What two senses are missing from the work today?

Using an online thesaurus, find a range of vocabulary to describe the two missing senses.

Can you find both positive and negative words like those we've already looked at?
