Wellbeing Warriors

What are Wellbeing Warriors?

Catchgate's Wellbeing Warriors are a group made up of children and adults who all believe that the wellbeing of every person in the school is fundamental to their happiness and good mental health. We meet on a regular basis to ensure that any concerns are highlighted and that the mission statement that we have in place, is implemented and effective.

What are Wellbeing Wardens?

Due to the huge number of applicants for Wellbeing Warrior roles, we decided to create a team of Wellbeing Wardens. Wardens have a very similar role to Warriors, however they are based inside of school and make sure the Warriors are signing in, have their hats and hoodies on and direct children to the Wellbeing Board.

To say a huge Thank you to our Wellbeing Warriors and Young Carers we shared a movie night again. This time we watched the new Dumbo movie whilst munching on popcorn, crisps, sausage rolls, cakes and sweets. We all managed to stay awake and the mess at the end was well worth the fun they had.

To say thank you for all of their hard work, the Wellbeing Warriors and Young Carers shared a movie night. They decided to watch the Emoji movie whilst they munched on popcorn, crisps and cake.

Today was a really special day for The Wellbeing Warriors and their 'Team'. They set up and hosted an afternoon of Christmas shopping for all of the staff at Catchgate School, to say 'Thank You' for making the school a happy and safe place, and we got to wear our new hoodies!

It began with an inspirational session led by our lovely SENCo Mrs Duggan, giving tips and hints on how to ensure our own wellbeing is kept positive, especially on the run up to and over the festive period! Everyone had hot chocolate, mince pies and biscuits, which was a nice treat. Then it was time for the shopping to begin!! The Wellbeing Warriors (and 2 very hard working helpers) served, wrapped and sold for 2 hours, with a power nap in between frown.  It was so successful that we have decided to have a stall or two at the Christmas Fayre on December 18th. So if you would like to pick up some jewellery, scarves or keyrings for Christmas gifts then come and join us then.

We also have a hamper full of colouring stuff, bubble bath, lip glosses etc which we are raffling for 50p a strip. This was very kindly donated by ASDA Stanley and the tickets are available to buy from the office, or from a Wellbeing Warrior at break time. It will be drawn on Thursday 6th December, will you be the lucky winner?

Recently we had an amazing visit from an inspirational man called Phil De Fries. Phil is an MMA fighter and has won the KSW heavyweight title twice, at which he is so proud. Not only has he had to put in a lot of physical training but also a lot of mental stamina, which, for someone who suffered from and was diagnosed with anxiety, is a huge obstacle to overcome.

The Wellbeing Warriors loved chatting to Phil and they also joined many of their friends, in the school hall, to do some training with him. We as a school are making sure that everyone knows that 'it is ok not to be ok', talk about it, get support and you never know what dream you could achieve!
