This morning we are meant to have PE. Our PE focus this week is throwing, can you see how many times you can throw and catch a ball without dropping it?
In Year 1 we love Cosmic Yoga! Here is a link to a yoga session your child can complete at home.
Today in maths we are looking at counting out from a group of objects. Using objects in your house to help you count (toys, pasta, pencils etc.). Can you answer these questions?
- Can you count out 5 objects?
- What number comes after 3?
- What is one more than 6?
- Can you work out the missing number? 1, 2, __, 4, 5
Can you read these to your child and ask them to repeat them? Ask your child to copy them down then read through the spellings with your child again.
Follow the link to Phonics Play and have a go at reading words on Buried Treasure.
Welcome to Year 1M!
Staff in Year 1M are Miss Macleod, Mrs Eggleton, Mrs Carlyon Mrs McDonald.
Our topic during Autumn 1 is Our Fragile World. We will explore how we can develop our respect for the environment (Article 29). Our learning will take place both in and outdoors and involve us exploring the local community so keep an eye out for us.
The text we will focus on during autumn 1 is Elmer. We will use a story map to learn the story and towards the end of the half term we will have a go at writing it independently.
The Year 1 Autumn homework grid is below. When you have completed a piece of homework please add it to your child's homework folder on OneNote.
Reading books are sent home daily and we encourage reading at home as much as possible.
We are encouraging the children to become more independent and to look after their own belongings, You can help your child to do this by putting their name in all of their clothing. As the weather gets warmer please continue to send your child to school wearing clothing for the weather and a coat as the weather can change quickly.
Year 1 PE, swimming and Forest School
We would like to remind you to put names in all of your children's clothes and they are allowed a water bottle in class, this should also have a name on. Below you will find PE and Forest School information such as what your child needs for these sessions. It is important that they are prepared for these lessons as PE is statutory requirement for all children.
P.E is on a Tuesday morning.
Please ensure you child has kit in school which include- Red t-shirt, black shorts and plimsoles. We do not have spare kit in school for the children to wear so if they do not have kit they will not be able to take part.
PE kits will be returned home at the end of each half term and should come back into school in time for the first PE session of the half term.
Forest School is on a Monday morning.
Please send your child to school with suitable clothing that you don't mind getting wet and muddy. This should include sturdy shoes, boots or wellies, a warm coat, warm trousers and jumper.
Children will need to bring school shoes whenever they wear wellies or other footwear to school.
Swimming happens on a Wednesday morning.
Please meet Miss Macleod at the pool entrance at 8.30.
Phonics Screening test for Year 1.
