Supporting Children with Medical Conditions

From September 2014, the Department for Education released statutory guidance on how children with medical conditions are supported in school.

 

Mrs Shaw, Mrs Bambridge and Mrs Stoker have all undertaken training on the guidance and have been working with the Local Authority and School Nursing Service to implement the policy, meeting with parents to produce Individual Healthcare Plans. Please note that at the time of training the policy states that the guidance does not cover the Early Years (Children aged 0-5). The Local Authority's advice is that children in EY's should be supported in the same way. Work is continuous contacting parents within nursery and childcare. Mrs Bambridge, Mrs Shaw and Mrs McDonald (SENCO) work closely together to ensure SEND and Medical information is up to date where necessary.

 

If your child has a medical condition and you have not been contacted or you have not informed school of the medical condition, please contact the school office as soon as possible.

 

If parents have any concerns or questions, please contact Mrs Bambridge or Mrs Stoker in the first instance.
